The Social and Hospitality committee functions to provide fellowship and social events for the members and guests of St. Andrew’s church. We hope to add to the rich spiritual life of our church by providing opportunities to gather in a social setting. Some of our functions are fund raisers designed to support specific projects or the church as a whole; others are for fellowship.
This group organizes social functions year round. At the beginning of the church calendar year in December a carol sing is led by our minister of music which follows a pot luck. On Christmas eve we have a bonfire in the garden with a small finger food tasting. This is followed by January’s Italian dinner, a spring salad luncheon and some years we have had a ham dinner just after Easter. In the summer the St Andrew’s picnic brings out the cowboys and poets when we gather for barbeque and s’mores. In the fall we enjoy a Mexican fiesta and a Harvest dinner and in November, a fashion show luncheon when models wear clothing to be sold that has been donated for our early December Regalorama fundraiser. Most of these gatherings are held in the afternoon and often have live music provided.
Our responsibility as a group also means that we organize post-service Sunday morning coffee 52 Sundays of the year outside in our garden. We are called to set up social gatherings for memorial services. Occasionally, following a Sunday service, we have a potluck lunch in the garden.
Two or three times each year the women of the church have the opportunity to gather for lunch at one of the area restaurants, organized by one of our members.
Anyone who wants to work side by side other women and men in the kitchen is welcome to join this hard-working but fun-loving group. We can always use more volunteers. The group meets approximately once each month for about an hour to get the upcoming events organized.
